Upcoming Forum Addition

I have been thinking about a better way to communicate with users recently. Soon, a forum will be added. I have looked at many different ones.

• PhpBB: I have used this for over 2 years but has too many features and is quite slow
• SMF: I have just tried this choice. SMF is somewhat simple with a lot of updates. Currently at beta 2.0, I do not want to use the old 1.1 but the current 2.0 is in beta mode so this might not be a good choice. Also, the SMF forums poses a lot of limitations so in the future, SMF might not be able to be distributed with the Coal Games Arcade Script.
• PunBB: This bulletin board looks promising and the database has few tables which would be easy to integrate with the upcoming Coal Games login system.

A bridge to the forum system would be tricky to make but possible. I might have to settle for that users will have to login in at the main site and another time at the forums.
